Our New Dining Room Table

Look at it, isn't it beautiful? ....

A dinning room table, where we all sit together as a family, with place mats and stuff? What?

Sitting together as a family is a foreign concept as a family. We know what it is just have never done it. Why, you may ask? Well we have never had a table that fits all six members of my family. We have/had a table that sat four. At mealtimes us kids would eat the bar or island what ever you call those things. Then my parents would occupy two places at the table. My mom has been meaning to get a table for years but other financial things came up and the table got pushed back. So finally she found a table that she liked. (my mom is a major interior decorating lady). To get what she wanted she had to paint and stain the table and chairs herself. She has spent countless hours since about april painting and staining. The joke at my house was that table wouldn't be done until we were all married off and they had grandchildren. Finally today we sat together at our new dining room table. To be honest it was kinda awkward. It was fun to eat together as a family though. We actually talked and had conversation with each other. We would have conversation before but it wasn't at a table where you were looking at each other. Maybe we will become closer as a family. Who knows? The finished table and chairs are beautiful. We have my mom to thank for it too. She is so talented.
